Hello everyone, even though there are numerous cosplays of Codex, there are not so many photoshoots out there, and I am quite happy with the one I had a couple days ago, so I have decided to share it with other fans of The Guild, especially those interested in cosplay. Feel free to comment and ask anything! Here are the photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.391684277553829.87264.244649205590671&type=3

  • Those are amazing. I think that the fifth and sixth are my favorites.
  • These are fantastic! But I would watch what you upload to facebook as you now cant see any meta data on the photos and the fact that they now own them and can do what they want with them. Very few things are off on the costume but no biggie. I just feel that the facebook upload killed the photo as they resize and take away from the shoot.

You can see the better quality pics over here http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/ well it's not a private account on facebook, but a public page, so I don't see a problem :)
  • Oh wow these are beautiful!
    Blog: http://faerietales.tumblr.com/

I write about monsters on my blog. You should read it. ^-^
  • @dlucinea sadly it doesnt matter to facebook if its private or not anything you upload they are able to use and sell any way they want. flickr is a much better choice and the guy who shot these does have the skills and you have the skills to make the photo rock.

  • I am sure they are. Anyway, can this be not be about how good or bad is my choice to have a cosplay page on facebook?:)
  • Sorry, again your cosplay is amazing and should be taken note of. Did you happen to use the "how to make a codex staff" video to make yours because its a dang good copy.

  • Well, I did watch it, but I ended up using all the different techniques to make it :D The orb is actually empty, painted with lots of nail varnishes from inside as opposed to the resin filled ball in the video by Greg Aronowitz. But the video has been a great help :)
  • You know since your orb is hallow you should throw in some LEDs to give it the look of being charged and ready to use kind of like in the last episode of season 3. Also do you happen to have a Con circuit your gonna hit? I know if your gonna be going to DragonCon you can find a group for the guild. Sadly I dont have the body to cosplay so all I can do is spectate don't tell that to Felicia though she thinks I might a real life Zaboo (season 5 version) after the events of Comic-Con.

@Steven I am from Lithuania, Eastern Europe, DragonCon is a bit too far away for me (aka too expensive to travel to) for now. I did go to a local con with it and won 1st place in solo performance though. I might take it to Eurocosplay in London or Japan Expo next year. I need to watch the last episode of season 3 again, because I totally had the idea with the LEDs and I was like "but maybe that's a bit too much?", but if in the show, it's so not :) I think it's better to be a season 5 version Zaboo than season 1, don't you?
  • Awesome pics, well done. I should dress up like Clara.
When not gaming I knit so I don't kill people so beware of a gamer girl with pointy sticks!
  • Really nice pics and well done cosplay, congratulations to the photographer and the beautiful cosplayer.
I imagine you build the staff and made the costume by youself, am i right? Cause really, great cosplay.
  • Yes I did make it myself, not everything from scratch (i.e I bought regular red corset and tuned it:)), you take take look at the WIP here if interested: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.244653178923607.60152.244649205590671&type=3 ;
  • Simply amazing, i'd love to make by myself some well made cosplays as yours. Came out pretty well and it seems it took quite a long to make it all, really great, again congratulations, simply love it all.
  • Fantastic work, @dulcinea - I'm going to be making a Codex staff (and a Fawkes one) myself soon ( http://geekandsundry.com/forums/discussion/184/guild-costuming ) and am aiming to go the easy route too...

Can I ask what you used for the rings around the staff (that the wings connect to)?

You know, I thought about curing Cancer, but there would still be eleven other horoscopes to plague us, so why even bother? - Farlander
  • @Molokov, I have used parts for hanging up the curtains, if you know what I mean, haha.
  • Cheers, I'll keep it in mind :)
