Female vocals and from Iceland. I've been hypnotized by this while I write.

Depending on my mood I'll listen to anything from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Distillers, The National, Black Keys, Mumford and Sons, The XX, A Perfect Circle, Babyshambles and Biffy Clyro,
but if its Female vocalists we are talking about, I've developed a lil obsession with Regina Spektor
    and Lorde

I remember the first time I heard Regina Spektor, I could not stand her voice. It just grated on me for some reason. Then years passed and I heard her do a cover of Real Love by John Lennon, and I was blown away. Then I realized it was the same singer who a couple years previously I had dismissed, and gave it another shot and have been listening ever since.

  • Good thread dude. Gotta say I'm happiest when I'm navel gazing and listening to stuff like Alexi Murdoch, Owen, Ben Gibbard, American Analog Set or Dntel. But right now I'm a little bit in love with Sawako; Japanese, ambient digital electronica kinda stuff. Also even though I'm from the same city as them I can't stand Arctic Monkeys. Anyone got any bands or music they think they should like but don't?

So, I realized this was started months ago, but couldn't stop myself from jumping in. I am a big fan of Flogging Molly and can get down to most punk and new wave music. I also dig Los Prisioneros and Cafe Tacvba. Presently, Iggy Pop, the Talking Heads, the Limousines, and The Fratellis are getting a lot of play time.

Awesome. I love the music of the 80's. What with all the Batman stuff, this is what I've been blasting.

@Don_Diego I thought you were going to be blasting this.

@gigglz187 Heart is an amazing band. Their Behind the Music was one of my favorites and interesting to see the struggles that they went through. Speaking of 80's for me:

  • Great song, weird video.  Speaking of odd 80's videos.

PS - Can someone teach this noob how to embed videos in a post.  I fail at googling this topic.

  • I think The Cars are one of the most underrated bands of all time.  Just gonna throw that out there.  If you don't know who they are look them up you probably know most of their songs.

They are definitely not underrated. They were everywhere in the 80's.

The argument I am making is that they are not now remembered by people younger than 25 generally.

That is the sad truth for a lot of bands that don't stay in the spotlight. I would say they are more a forgotten treasure tho.

  • Flogging Molly! <3

Lately I've been really getting into Of Monsters and Men and Caro Emerald, but I also enjoy listening to film soundtracks. I have pretty... eclectic taste overall - I like anything from Jpop/Kpop to punk to new wave to musicals. I can even get into a country song now and then (I'm Canadian, don't judge me). I also love hearing fan-made music :)
  • I have seen Flogging Molly live 4 times now, which is 3 shows more than I have ever seen any other band live.  I took my dad with me last time.  Now, he sends me emails with links to songs that he thinks are similar in style to Flogging Molly, so I get a lot of Mumford and Sons and that sort of thing.  It is OK to like country music if you are from Calgary or the whole plains area.  If not country what kind of music do you play at a stampede?  I think it is terrible though.  I go all over the map as well just not to that particular part.

The last song I dled was this(sorry the music video is painful to watch but the song is good):
